How do you prepare players for football’s highest levels while building competitive teams that thrive on the global stage?
At Right to Dream, the answer lies in a bold, shared style of play that connects our academies and clubs across continents.
"Our competitive edge is definitely our style of play," says Flemming Pedersen, Right to Dream Group Technical Director.
A Unified Style Across Continents
From Ghana to Denmark, Egypt to San Diego, Right to Dream’s style of play is shared by all our academies and clubs. The same principles guide our men’s and women’s teams, our academies across the world, and our clubs, FC Nordsjælland in Denmark to FC Masar in Egypt.
And as San Diego FC prepares for its debut MLS season, this style of play is set to make its mark in North America.
"Our style of play reflects the trends in modern football, and it’s designed for what the game will demand in the future," adds Flemming.
It’s a style of play rooted in creativity, collaboration, consistency, and enjoyment. It ensures all our players and clubs grow within the same framework, grounded in the principles outlined in the 8 phases of play—each designed to simplify the game, challenge players, and maximize their development. These phases, from build-up to pressing and transitions, are all explored in detail in A Game for the Future.
Shaping Players for the Future
At the core of the Right to Dream style of play is a commitment to developing players who can think, adapt, and perform at the highest levels of the game.
"When I think about how everyone in the organization is following the same style of play and being coached in the same way and being provided the same opportunities, I just get excited because I can't wait to see what type of players come through," says Amy Harrison, FCN Women’s Team Assistant Coach.
Our style of play ensures players are immersed in a structured yet dynamic environment that emphasizes cognitive development and pattern recognition. This approach equips them with the tools to succeed in top leagues, international competitions, and beyond.
San Diego in MLS
With San Diego FC being weeks away from their MLS debut, the team is embracing the Right to Dream style of play with boldness and creativity.
"Anybody who plays sports wants to win. But how we win and who we win with matters," shares Mikey Varas, Head Coach of San Diego FC. "We’re going to be brave, find solutions under pressure, take risks, and pay the price for those risks at times. We believe in the style and in the process, so we know that those mistakes, when made in a meaningful way, are going to lead to more wins."
This courageous approach means San Diego FC fans can expect exciting football, and look forward to a team that is fearless, focused, and ready to take on the demands of one of the fastest-growing football leagues in the world.
