Our family member FC Nordsjælland is absolutely crushing it!
The CIES Football Observatory Weekly Post just released a report on gametime for U-20 players in the world’s top clubs and get this: FC Nordsjælland lead the way with an incredible 37% record percentage of minutes played by U-20 footballers in domestic league matches over the last five years (almost double the percentage of the nearest club) - beating 1,168 clubs in 76 leagues worldwide!
During the period between April 2018 and March 2023, FC Nordsjælland offered a fantastic platform for 41 players under the age of 20 to make their debut and display their potential. And we're so proud to see that our club’s unwavering commitment to nurturing young talents is paying off big time.
Together, we’re setting a new standard for youth development in football and we’re doing it in style. FC Nordsjælland also field the youngest top-tier squad in the world with an average age of 22.31. Talk about a fresh and youthful approach to the game!
Not only that, but the men’s team also top the Danish Superliga Championship table with 46 points.
But it’s not just the numbers. We’ve seen some incredible talent grow and shine into fantastic players at the Right to Dream Park - It’s the first spot where many of our alumni kick off their football careers.
Take Mohammed Kudus, for example, a Right to Dream Graduate who made his debut with FC Nordsjælland just days before turning 18. And now, he’s one of the hottest young talents in the game, dazzling fans at the biggest stages from the UEFA Champions League to the FIFA Men’s World Cup.
Or how about Ernest Nuamah, 19, another Right to Dream Graduate and up-and-coming talent who is making a name for himself with FC Nordsjælland with his splendid performances and sublime goals – eight goals to his name this campaign so far.
And FC Nordsjælland women’s team is no exception. Our Denmark Academy Graduate Kathrine Kuhl had a stunning journey with FC Nordsjælland before moving to Women’s Super League side Arsenal this winter. The creative midfielder made her debut with the club while only 16, and helped us win the 2020 Danish Cup, all while becoming a key player for the Danish national team.
And these are just a few examples of many success stories and talents that emerged from the club’s dedication to youth development.
