Waris makes FIFA World Cup appearance

On 14th June 2014, Abdul Majeed Waris made his FIFA World Cup debut for Ghana vs Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal, at the Estadio Nacional in Brasilia.

Waris, who plays his club football for Trabzonspor in Turkey, became the first Right to Dream graduate to appear in a FIFA World Cup, coming on as a substitute in the final Group G game. The Black Stars eventually succumbed to a 2-1 defeat by Portugal, but the legacy Waris has created will provide the inspiration for RtD students and graduates to follow.
